According to Henry L. Sisk “Management is the coordination of all resources through the process of planning, organizing, directing and controlling in order to attain stated objectives.” And according to F.W. Taylor “Management is the art of knowing what you want to do and then seeing that it is done in the best and cheapest way.” As we can see now that nowadays most of companies are going globally and without effective management they can’t continue functioning in the fast changing environment or in other word in a dynamic environment. Management is about group of managers that work to control activities to achieve goals required. As Managing is something that can be linked to simple activities that you can’t imagine it. For example, waking up and starting your day with cup of coffee and the wearing to go to work, driving to reach work, working, having the lunch break and many other activities are related to managing.
Furthermore, Technology is improving rapidly the way we live and work so we can see how dealing with our lives is changing with every blink of eye. The fourth revolution is taking place. We can say it is a dynamic world and now everything can be controlled by the use of the internet and phones. The fourth revolution is about a merge between the different types of technologies like artificial intelligence and robotics as there will be sharing for big data. And now what is big data? What is dark and bright side of it? And why it is important and especially in management. By the improvement of mobile technology and internet the big data became more popular. It is about setting large and complex data for the traditional processing and data management applications. According to Mayer-Schonberger and Cukier, ‘big data refers to things one can do at scale … to extract new insights or create new forms of value, in ways that change markets, organizations, the relationship between citizens and governments, and more’ (2013, p. 6). It is used in a way to maximize the productivity and minimize waste or in other words to generate more profit and work more efficiently and effectively. As many things it has its bright and dark side so what are they? It depends on how and for whom these data are collected, many of the stored data may be useless. And the challenges facing big data are lack of transparency, and the need for more data protection.
We know that a problem is a negative situation that we face and try to analyze it to find solution. However, wicked problem is a very complex problem that is somehow impossible to solve and the definition said by Rittel is that wicked problem is a social or culture issue that is difficult to explain. For example, financial crises, health care, poverty or even hunger. This term was introduced by Rittel and Melvin Webber in 1973 to highlight on the complexities and challenges of addressing planning and social policy problems. From the characteristics of wicked problems is that they don’t have specific formula to solve, number of solutions are endless as they aren’t based on whether they are true or false but on whether they are good or bad and they can’t be tested. Adding to that these wicked problems are considered unique.
Inequalities can take many shapes. For example, it can be the difference in salaries between employees and that what is available in every organization. Each employee takes a different salary from the other. Working as a saleswoman my salary isn’t the same as my colleagues even or as people in other position. However, inequality may take the shape of paying salary depending on the gender.
