A river is a natural waterway that extends between two banks, one of which represents the source, and the other the mouth, although the mouth can be an ocean, a sea or a lake.

Fresh river water consists of water bodies and lakes, rain water, or water that springs from the eyes of the earth.

It is worth noting that the difference in determining the sources of these rivers leads to a discrepancy in the measurement of their length. For example, the results of some measurements show that the length of the Nile River is 6,883 km, and others state that it does not exceed 6,650 km if we consider that it originates from Lake Victoria and not from Rwanda and Burundi, as the aforementioned study confirms.

Rivers are an important source of food and drinking water as well as the most important crossings of goods from one country to another, and other benefits to all of humanity, and the Wonder List website ranked the top ten rivers, the longest on earth

Measuring the total length of the river can be difficult due to the lack of a clear beginning and end, and as a result, the debate over the longest river in the world continues.

The debate is limited to the Nile and the Amazon, however, most experts refer to the Nile as the longest river in the world.

Other sources that indicate that the Amazon is longer than the Nile are not always accurate, and some are supported by the Brazilian government.

The Nile River, which crosses the Egyptian territory, is formed in the city of Khartoum, where it meets the White Nile and the Blue Nile, and the latter is the most important tributary of the river.
